While Summer was in the winter storage shed next to her sister ship Tomahawk, the owner decided his LM 35 was in need of a hardtop. With the LM 35 line approaching 20 years old, the mold sets were long gone and the cost to create a new mold was prohibitive to the customer’s budget. The recently launched LM 42 hardtop mold was collecting snow behind a building and appeared to have the appropriate camber. After inspecting the 3D model of the mold, I determined that we could CNC carve a perimeter dam out of remnant material for the LM 42 series hardtop mold to achieve the desired shape for Summer‘s hardtop with very few man hours.
